Hana Rousová: Abstractions: Bohemia Among the Centres of Modernity 1918—1950

A book based primarily on visualising unusual combinations of paintings and sculpture (Josef Šíma, František Drtikol, Wassily Kandinsky, Zdeněk Pešánek) with the design of utilitarian objects both of famous personalities (Sonia Delaunay, Wenzel Hablik, Marianne Brandt) and by anonymous factory designers. Through nearly five hundred reproductions of Czech and international work, it shows that direct and indirect interdisciplinary relationships were not unilateral, based on the dominant role of what is called "high art", as is generally assumed, but rather interactive.
